Originally, the plan was that the Dallas Mozilla-1.0 party would be on the Saturday following the release. But, Mozilla 1.0 was released earlier this week, surprising some people (and many of the party-organizers, in specific). So, it wasn't clear whetherr the party would be this Saturday (June 8th) or the following Saturday (June 15th). I e-mailed the guy twice, and only this morning do I found out (via the Dallas party homepage, not by e-mail) that it's been postponed.
To decide on the party location, they listed several possibilities that the group would vote on. There were several excellent choices, including The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium and The Londoner. And, what do they choose? Dave & Buster’s, bleh. Between their $1-per-play arcade games and their overpriced drinks, Dave & Buster’s is not a cheap excursion. But, it'll be nice to meet like-minded Mozilla folks in the DFW area, so I’ll go anyhow :).
But, I'm still not sure how The Londoner lost out to Dave & Buster’s :-/.
Having suffered through many mediocre versions in the never-ending quest for good fish and chips here in the colonies, our expectations are never high. What a delightful shock: extremely fresh and flaky cod, wrapped in a light beer batter that seemed so lightly fried that we wonder how the fish got cooked. Likewise, the long, thick chips emerged from the oil neither too flimsy nor too crusty.[...]
