From a thread on MetaFilter, songs in commercials are becoming a phenomenon all their own — Cadillac is even becoming popular with some younger buyers due to their use of a Zepplin song in an ad.

There’re also websites that help people figure out the artists that performed songs heard in commercials. At first, I was happy to discover SongTitle.info as there’s one song from a GMC Yukon commercial that I’m still trying to track down (the commercial featured the hulking beasts driving in choreographed circles, synchronized-swimming style).

SongTitle has an entry for “Our Day Will Come” by Ruby & The Romantics (with a link to a sound sample) for the Yukon. But, after listening, I ruled that one out. I don’t hold it against SongTitle, but I suppose they just don’t have the details for that particular commercial.

Even Volkswagen has a CD of collected songs from its commercials. Some of the more obvious ones — such as Mr. Roboto — are on there, but I may just get it to discover some new techno artists (good techo is just so hard to find these days).

  1. I’m looking for a song done by a girl band I think. I’ve heard it on a few different commercials, the latest being a Kotex commercial. The only words I know are… girl girl, she’s a girl girl. Also, there was a commercial from the mid ’90s showing a car driving through flooded streets with a new age song playing. Thanks!!!

I’m looking for the name and artist of an old song from a recent Ford Mustang commercial from the within the past couple of years with a males voice, but it starts out with a long instrumental part followed by some words that go something like, walk upon the water, and I think they also say something about get ready! It’s a song that I think has been used in a few commercials, but this particular commercial was a car getting closer and closer from out in the desert. I could have the car wrong and the words, but I hope not. Please help me out!

  9. GMC Truck Commercial with Horse Hanging head out of trailer in the wind, “a good, good feeling, a great sensation, oh, sock it to me..” is the Isley Brothers song “I Turned You On”.

  10. I’m Looking for the orginal song, not the remix, from that Bacardi commercial, where the guy is trying to find a woman in this club who keeps showing up on all the televisons in the place. Also, i know the commercial is really old, but i was never able to find the song from that weird car commercial where they guy is trying to get to a wedding but i still can’t figure out why, i think to stop it or something.     Does anyone know the song in the new Mentos commercial, with the sheep on lawnmowers chasing the dogs? The lyrics don’t make sense, something like “Shika-doh, shika-doh”…
    There’s another ad for The New Polaroid One; you see pictures developing in front of your eyes and the song has a funky dance beat, and a woman singing that sounds like the original song originated from the 50’s or 60’s.

  18. Does anyone know the name and artist of a song that I last heard a while back on a Burger King commercial–it starts with the lyric “Hello, my love…and then later in the song it says something about “rainbows and waterfalls…”? It’s a funky song I think from the mid 70’s.

  21. Does anyone know the song in the new 7 Up commercial? Everyone is really hot (temperature wise) and this guy is listening to the radio. The DJ at the radio station takes a drink of 7 Up and blows into the microphone and it cools off the guy listening to the radio.

    does anyone know the song from the commercial for a mens shaving gel or razor, i forget which. the guy is floating in the air while shaving. its just music in the background. i thinks its old, like 80’s 90’s.

  30. I’m looking for a song in the new GMC Sierra Denalli commercial. The commercial says “if a 400,000 seat stadium have a retractable roof? why cant you” and “if a 2 year old can have four wheel steering…Why cant you?” then the truck is driving in the desert while this song is playing. The song has some quick strings and kind of a pop oriented beat with no vocals. Please Help Me….

    I hear there’s a different version running in Canada? So I’m not sure if this is the song the Canadians are looking for, but this is the song found in the US.

    **Also I was wondering if anyone knew the name of the song in the newest Bailey’s irish creme commercial.The song was also on the episode of the real world where Pascual, Leah’s brother, came for a visit. It has a sort of light dance beat and there is a woman singing these lyrics “He’s so far out- he fits right in- he’s so far out and he fits right in…da da da da..)

  36. I’m looking for this song.. It’s spanish (as far as I can tell), has kind of a funky sound, has lyrics that go something like “(Ahhhh) Hasta el amanecer, contigo”.. It was in a commercial, but I, for the life of me, can’t remember which.. I think it was for alcohol though.. I know I’m super lame with my vagueness, but any help would be appreciated.. Thanks..

  49. I’m looking for a song with these lyrics, “He’s so far out, he fits right in…”. It’s kind of upbeat, and sung by a woman who may have an accent (Brazilian perhaps?) I heard it at the beginning of last week’s (9/23) episode of “NIP/TUCK”. It was at the part where Christian and Kimber are at the spa and he’s hitting on the receptionist.
