Songs in Commercials

From a thread on MetaFilter, songs in commercials are becoming a phenomenon all their own — Cadillac is even becoming popular with some younger buyers due to their use of a Zepplin song in an ad.

There’re also websites that help people figure out the artists that performed songs heard in commercials. At first, I was happy to discover SongTitle.info as there’s one song from a GMC Yukon commercial that I’m still trying to track down (the commercial featured the hulking beasts driving in choreographed circles, synchronized-swimming style).

SongTitle has an entry for “Our Day Will Come” by Ruby & The Romantics (with a link to a sound sample) for the Yukon. But, after listening, I ruled that one out. I don’t hold it against SongTitle, but I suppose they just don’t have the details for that particular commercial.

Even Volkswagen has a CD of collected songs from its commercials. Some of the more obvious ones — such as Mr. Roboto — are on there, but I may just get it to discover some new techno artists (good techo is just so hard to find these days).

  4. hi! I was wondering if anyone knew the name of the song in the Mr. Sub commercial, where the guy just keeps saying “I just can’t get enough” over and over. That song is driving me nuts

I’m looking for the song from my favorite commercial — I haven’t seen it in about 3 years but it was a KIA commercial and in it is a REALLY hot girl driving around and she looks kinda pissed off but in each scene her hair is different and she’s wearing different clothes and with a different guy — anyway the song has a really catchy tune and goes something like: “Get with my boy gotta get with my boy…”

    I know this has been mentioned before, but here are a few ways to find your song without waiting around for a reply from this site:

    1. Google. Type in a snippet of the lyrics in quotation marks and add +lyrics at the end. You should be able to find most songs like this.

    2. To find out if songs have been mentioned on this site, just push CONTROL (Ctrl) and the letter F on your keyboard and type in the words you are looking for. Keep hitting “Find Next” until you see what you are looking for.

  19. By the way, I think I read somewhere someone was asking about the Diet Pepsi commercial w/P Diddy. The song that plays in that ad is Coolio – Fantastic Voyage.

  22. I have a question about that Boulevard song from the Suzuki commercial. After reading through all of these posts and seeing that no one knew what it was and it was some local band I was a little disappointed because I spent two hours googling trying to find out what it was cause the song is stuck in my head. Then I saw this post:

  23. Wow I feel like such an idiot, after playing around with Suzuki’s site I realized they have a flash intro to that link, and it changes everytime you load it up, and if you change it a couple different times I got the beginning with the song download spot on it, thanks a lot guys.

  26. aw maaan i love that song on the molson Kick commercial. are you sure about it just being for the commercial only? cuz its so good. and hey does anyone know where i could get that song off of the car commercial where they show that young couple jumping around in their apartment and they move into a houseand its like”all grown up…sort of”. i heard it’s by Diecast or soemthing.

    I just remembered there is this commercial on TV for a car, I don’t remember the name of the car but at the end words pop upon the screen saying ‘All grown up…sort of’
    In the song a guy sings, “You want it, she’s got it…”
    If you can figure out what I’m talking about could you tell me the name of the song and the singer? At first I thought it was a stupid song, but I saw the commercial about 35 times and it kind of grew on me.

  36. Does anybody know the song that was in Kohl’s back-to-school commercials last year? It went, “I just wanna make the world jump up and down, at the same time”….it sounded like a Sugar Ray song, ut
    I wasn’t sure if it was a “real song” or “just a jingle.”

  40. Looking for the song that’s in the Dockers commercial. Trying googling lyrics but not coming up with much. Lyrics are:

  43. I’m looking for the song that’s playing in the new Kia Spectra commercials that are playing right now. I don’t think there’s any words, just music (actually I’m helping out my brother find out who/what it was). I think it’s more rock (moreso indie sounding I think). Thanks!

  45. I think this might have been answered but i didn’t see it. What is the song that plays kinda quietly in the backgrond of what I want to say is a Mercury Insurance commerical? There are two commercials that have it, one with a bear and he puts his paws on the window of a van and breaks it and one where a guy accidentally pushes his car off a cliff into the ocean. The only words I could get were “It’s wonderful, It’s marvelous..” I really need to know. Someone told me it was a remake a of a Rod Stewart song, but i don’t believe them.

Im looking for a song that is in a recent motorcycle commercial. it sounds kind of jack johnson ish but im sure its not him. it’s either a kawasaki or suzuki motorcycle. the commercial starts off with a rider then the song starts and some birght colored wavy lines show up. this prolly isnt very helpfull but this is all i got.
