From a thread on MetaFilter, songs in commercials are becoming a phenomenon all their own — Cadillac is even becoming popular with some younger buyers due to their use of a Zepplin song in an ad.

There’re also websites that help people figure out the artists that performed songs heard in commercials. At first, I was happy to discover SongTitle.info as there’s one song from a GMC Yukon commercial that I’m still trying to track down (the commercial featured the hulking beasts driving in choreographed circles, synchronized-swimming style).

SongTitle has an entry for “Our Day Will Come” by Ruby & The Romantics (with a link to a sound sample) for the Yukon. But, after listening, I ruled that one out. I don’t hold it against SongTitle, but I suppose they just don’t have the details for that particular commercial.

Even Volkswagen has a CD of collected songs from its commercials. Some of the more obvious ones — such as Mr. Roboto — are on there, but I may just get it to discover some new techno artists (good techo is just so hard to find these days).

    does anybody know the name of the song in the new budweiser commercial, at the beginning of the commercial someone is pouring paint on a canvas and it splashes in the shape of a crown, then near the end of the song the lyrics are like “Dont Let Up, Cause theres a party over here so you might as well be here”
    also, if anybody knows the song from the nissan 350z commercial where the singer is singing a song like “driving in my car” it would be greatly appreciated.

    at the end of the commercial is all the cars of the GM company.

  14. does anyone know the song used in the new(ish) Ford Fusion commercial. A girl driving and a guy in the passenger seat in a city centre with popcorn being popped off dried corn cobbs. And acupunture needles going into flames like fireworks. Some womans purse vibrating. Anyways, a song and artist name please!! Its driving me crazy! btw, “whoo hoo” is by the 5,6,7,8’s, a japanese all girl band. Watch kill bill vol. 1, its feat. there.

  17. Hi, Does anyone know the artist/title from the Showtime commercial they used to show to promo new movies, it was mainly used for Lara Croft: Tomb Raider & the cradle of life, also used for Spider-Man 2 in late 2005

    Also it is a pet comercial I think a veterinarian commercial and they played this nice music tune with no words. just some instruments playing this song tune and I cant find it. Dont know if they play the commercial anymore but they played it durring winter time.

  38. Does anyone know the name of the song and artist for a current 15 second ad by Westin Hotels? The ad is very simple, it just says “Breathe” and “This is how it should feel” — it was shown at the end of the Superbowl this year — it’s real chilled-out, has a slow electric guitar on reverb, and has a woman singing, at the end, “oooooooooo, Uh-Huhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…” any help would be greatly appreciated.
