From a thread on MetaFilter, songs in commercials are becoming a phenomenon all their own — Cadillac is even becoming popular with some younger buyers due to their use of a Zepplin song in an ad.

There’re also websites that help people figure out the artists that performed songs heard in commercials. At first, I was happy to discover SongTitle.info as there’s one song from a GMC Yukon commercial that I’m still trying to track down (the commercial featured the hulking beasts driving in choreographed circles, synchronized-swimming style).

SongTitle has an entry for “Our Day Will Come” by Ruby & The Romantics (with a link to a sound sample) for the Yukon. But, after listening, I ruled that one out. I don’t hold it against SongTitle, but I suppose they just don’t have the details for that particular commercial.

Even Volkswagen has a CD of collected songs from its commercials. Some of the more obvious ones — such as Mr. Roboto — are on there, but I may just get it to discover some new techno artists (good techo is just so hard to find these days).

    The artist/group who lays down that funky french accordian sound in the latest payless shoesource ad is In-Grid title is “Tu es foutu” translated…”You promised me”. I found it on payless.com. On their webpage there is a link to view the latest commercial. They provide credits at the end for ad producer and music. You may keep this in mind if Payless uses another song you fancy.

  7. Bryan Adams sang that song in the 80’s. A band with a female lead singer resang it around the ealier 20’s. Dj Sammy also may have resang it but The Original is still the best! Nothing beats 80’s soft rock! Type in “Heaven” or “were in Heaven” (with the word song or music added) on google and you will find the song.

  15. To everyone out here you will never have all of your questions answerd or find all of the songs you want. The best advice I can give if noone has the awnser for you is to try google.com and google it or download limewire that is free (find it on google) and try a search there. Commercials dont come up on limewire often but if you know the lyrics or name you should find what your looking for. If you still cant find the song just wait soon or later you will find it. If you like music in the 60’s- early 90’s (and some 50’s) and it is rock n roll or softrock or classical but dont know the name only lyrics ask me and I will see if I can help or anyone else here can always help. You dont need to noly ask questions on comercials do you? Peace.

  17. does anyone know the song from the oxygen halls commercial? its the commercial where a woman is brought in to identify her older dead husband and then the halls goes into his mouth so he starts revealing secrets. there’s no words but the music sounds sort of electronic. if anyone could tell me that would be awesome!

  31. There was this Hummer commercial a little while back and the song got me so pumped. I don’t know if its a real song or just made for the commercial? The commercial shows a desert with people sitting in car seats hovering over the air, and then the parts of the Hummer come flying towards them and form the car around them… its a black Hummer.   32. For some time now MTV had a clip-like commercial featuring a remix of about 3 great songs. Two of them are Destiny by Zero 7 and Work It by Missy Elliot. I’m terribly obsessed with the 3rd song. I recall the segment played was a beautiful chill tempo (seems to have no lyrics), perhaps it was the 1st of the three. Help PLEASE!!!

  44. Does anyone know who did the remix of Donna Summer’s Hot Stuff on that Chevy commercial that was out not too long ago?

    It has 3 guys in one car listening to a rap song, three girls in another listening to “Hot Stuff”. They pull up beside each other (night time on the roof of a parking garage?) and the songs blend as some of the guys and girls switch seats in each others cars.
    I’m searching but I’ve only found where others have asked the same question and there are SO MANY mixes of that song!

  45. I saw it somewhere on here… but now I can’t find it… I’m looking for the original version of that song that goes “I’m a hustler baby, I want you to know” and all I can find are the current rap versions that have sampled it.

    It was on a cell phone commercial where the guy is singing to his phone in an office bathroom and then an older man walks in on him.

  47. Does anyone know the name of a song that played on a Xbox or playstation comercial in the past 6 or 7 months…I remember it has a guy walking down the street to the beat.
