From a thread on MetaFilter, songs in commercials are becoming a phenomenon all their own — Cadillac is even becoming popular with some younger buyers due to their use of a Zepplin song in an ad.

There’re also websites that help people figure out the artists that performed songs heard in commercials. At first, I was happy to discover SongTitle.info as there’s one song from a GMC Yukon commercial that I’m still trying to track down (the commercial featured the hulking beasts driving in choreographed circles, synchronized-swimming style).

SongTitle has an entry for “Our Day Will Come” by Ruby & The Romantics (with a link to a sound sample) for the Yukon. But, after listening, I ruled that one out. I don’t hold it against SongTitle, but I suppose they just don’t have the details for that particular commercial.

Even Volkswagen has a CD of collected songs from its commercials. Some of the more obvious ones — such as Mr. Roboto — are on there, but I may just get it to discover some new techno artists (good techo is just so hard to find these days).

I’m wondering if anyone knows the song played in the new Budweiser Commercial where it shows the Budweiser crown popping up in wierd places, like the guys hair is fashioned in the crown shape, or the artist dumps black paint on a canvas and it splashes in the budweiser logo? Doesn’t anyone know what song that is?

  3. Alright, another Special K commercial if I may. It’s the most recent “Special K Challenge” commercial that I’ve seen. It features a lass spinning her red skirt back and forth, obviously because she’s lost so much weight…. The song is not Better Now. Can anyone help?

  9. does anyone know the song from the oxygen halls commercial? its the commercial where a woman is brought in to identify her older dead husband and then the halls goes into his mouth so he starts revealing secrets. there’s no words but the music sounds sort of techno. if anyone could tell me that would be awesome!

    —The song is ‘Shake the Disease’ performed by Hooverphonic. Depeche Mode back in 1998 asked certain bands that they really admire to make covers of their songs. DM put out “Tribute to Depeche Mode” album where you can find the Hooverphonic version.

The commercial has a girl driving with her bother in the middle of the back seat with her two friends. He slowly streches out his legs then his sister yells , “Quit it”! If I remember correctly the song has a girl singing in acapella (sorry can’t spell) it was very pretty. I don’t remember what car commercial it was I want to say volkswagen but not to sure.

  27. Does anyone know the song on the new Audi commercial? It has a piano in it, and a guy only sings three lines in the commercial. The whole song is kind of haunty-sounding, and the piano’s simple yet pretty part echoes, adding to the almost haunting sound of the song. The whole time the guy is only driving on a twisty road.     The song you are looking for is by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole: Somewhere Over the Rainbow. It is used in the Rice Krispies commercial and a number of shows and movies.

  43. I haven’t seen this commercial in several weeks so can’t explain it to the best of my ability. It is for an SUV. This man in a suit kisses his wife (blonde woman) goodbye and ends up jumping off a cliff.
