Songs in Commercials

From a thread on MetaFilter, songs in commercials are becoming a phenomenon all their own — Cadillac is even becoming popular with some younger buyers due to their use of a Zepplin song in an ad.

There’re also websites that help people figure out the artists that performed songs heard in commercials. At first, I was happy to discover SongTitle.info as there’s one song from a GMC Yukon commercial that I’m still trying to track down (the commercial featured the hulking beasts driving in choreographed circles, synchronized-swimming style).

SongTitle has an entry for “Our Day Will Come” by Ruby & The Romantics (with a link to a sound sample) for the Yukon. But, after listening, I ruled that one out. I don’t hold it against SongTitle, but I suppose they just don’t have the details for that particular commercial.

Even Volkswagen has a CD of collected songs from its commercials. Some of the more obvious ones — such as Mr. Roboto — are on there, but I may just get it to discover some new techno artists (good techo is just so hard to find these days).

    I’m looking for a version of “Singalong Junk” by Paul McCartney that has words to it. It was featured in the movie “Hanging Up” but isn’t on the soundtrack and I would love to find it.

  7. In the past few months (May 2004 and on) there have been ads for the movie The Notebook, featuring a song by some girl….something about “I….feel so….” and thats about all I know!

    Was wondering if someone might be able to tell me who sing it and what the song is called??

  15. Can someone please tell me what song was played for the last commercial for Carmen and Dave Till Death Do Us Part on MTV? It sounds like a Middle-Eastern Trance Song and it was really cool. They played it while showing clips of a woman dancing at their wedding. She was wrapped in stretchy fabric and dancing in it. Someone please please help me!!!   19. I have a question about the most recent Bailey’s commercial(With the: “A sense of loss, A sense of duty, A sense of adventure”). Yes, I know people have already asked for it before me, but I noticed that when people give answers, and I find that song, it’s an altogether different song. Maybe the song in the Bailey’s commercial in Canada is different? Because the song in the background seems like a kind of classy or classical song, with a guitar playing, too. It sounds almost Italian or something close to that. I really would appreciate if anyone could find out what that song is, because I’ve been looking around for the longest time! Thanks.

    The Touareg commercial song is by a man named Richard Buckner. It’s called “Ariel Ramirez” and it’s on an album called Since.

    The song from the MTV: Death Do Us Part segment is “Gia” by the Greek singer Despina Vandi. This song was HUGE in Europe and the Middle East in 2003. Hope you enjoy!

  48. I’m looking for a song that was featured in a Kodak commercial a couple years back. It was for those sticky pictures that told fortunes.

    The Commercial:

    A guy is in some sort of shop. He takes a picture of a girl. She takes one of him. Her fortune says “the man you’re going to marry is right in front of you.” His says “Doom awaits you” , or something to that effect. They both look up at each other. He pales. She smiles. Fade to black.

    Now, does anyone know the name of the song/singer?
