I needed some more sugar free jam the other day, so I stopped by Target to get some more. Normally, I’d go for Smucker’s Sugar Free Jam, but I noticed a brand that I hadn’t seen before: Polaner Sugar Free Preserves. I checked the label and it had the same amount of calories as my usual brand but it was sweetened with Splenda instead (Smucker’s is sweetened with aspartame). Their prices were comparable, so I bought some of their raspberry preserves.
That evening, I made a peanut butter & jelly jam open-faced sandwich to put the preserves through its paces. And, the first thing that I noticed as I spread the preserves on top of the peanut butter was that it was a single consistency — it was completely uniform in texture throughout. In fact, it had no texture other than being gelatinous.
The sandwich turned out all right, but it was missing the crunchy character of the raspberry seeds (it was seedless, after all). And, without any lumps or fruit bits in there, these preserves were more like a sweet topping to the sandwich than a distinct raspberry fruit layer. I tried to look to the bright side — the Splenda should have provided a more sugar-like taste, right? Well, it was actually about the same (that is, both sweeteners were acceptable in the context of a PB&J sandwich). Next time I think I’ll grab a jar of Smucker’s instead.
You need to try Polaner’s ‘All Fruit’ jams and jellies. They’re sweetened – but with fruit juices; No refined sugar is used. It may not be what you’re looking for, but I like it.
PB&J’s should ONLY be made with Hartleys raspberry jam. I honestly don’t know if it’s sold over here, however I will bring you back some of the sugar free variety anyway.
My next jar will be Goober.

Today I discovered Polaner Sugar Free Preserves sweetened with Splenda. I was absolutely delighted! I have been unable to use the preserves and jams and jellies sweetened with aspartame and saccharine because I was allergic to those two products. I am truly grateful to Polaner for taking a giant step forward in providing a product that is SAFE for the consumer to eat! Thank you so very much; today I bought raspberry and strawberry preserves sweetened with SPLENDA!
Being a diabetic, I was not pleased with using artificial sweeteners which have a nasty after taste. Last month, I bought a jar of Nature’s Hollow sugar free strawberry and peach preserves. WOW!! What a difference in taste. The company uses an ingredient called Xylitol. It is actually a sugar alcohol. I couldn’t tell the difference between these sugar free preserves and the ones that I use to eat that had loads of sugar. Fruit preserves sometimes seem a lot healthier and more diet friendly than they actually are. I am use to 50 plus calories per tablespoon due to all of the sugar. These sugar free preserves may have only 20 calories, but the carb count is only 2 grams. Both flavors that I tried had hunks of fruit in them and tasted absolutely awesome. I will definately be buying their other flavors. I give them 5 stars.
Please let me know where can I buy sugar free toppings, I can’t find them anywhere.
Thank you

I am looking for your boysenberry sugar free jam.
Where can I find it?
Polaner strawberry jam with fiber is the best on the market. No Smucker’s for me. I am moving to Venice Florida 34292 and I need to know where I can buy it regularly, along with the other Polaner jams. Please lt me know who carries it in that area. Anita Preston
