Palm and Sony Ericsson Bluetooth Cooperation

From Palm InfoCenter, Palm and Sony Ericsson have annouced their plans for Bluetooth interoperability:

The two companies plan to work closely together to enable out-of-the-box compatibility between Bluetooth-enabled Sony Ericsson mobile phones and Palm Powered handhelds. Users of future Bluetooth-enabled products will be able to more easily access information, entertainment, and communicate across a wide variety of devices — without cumbersome cords and wires.

For example, a user could select a phone number from a Palm Powered handheld device and have it automatically dialed on the SonyEricsson mobile phone — via the Bluetooth wireless technology. […]

Now that’s cool. I suppose I may just be buying a Sony Ericsson for my next mobile phone ;).

New Models from Palm!

From PalmInfoCenter, Palm is releasing three new models next month! One is a low-end model (just 2MB RAM), one is a smartphone, but the third is probably of most interest:

According to rumor, it will be named the Tungsten. It will use a Texas Instruments OMAP1510 processor, which combines into a single chip an ARM-compliant processor with a DSP for multimedia capabilities, and runs at 175 MHz. It will have 16 MB of RAM.

Palm OS 5 has multimedia support built into it and, according to anonymous sources, the Tungsten takes full advantage of it. It has a microphone, headphone jack, and a speaker. […]

And, of course, it’ll also run at 320x320 (as opposed to the current Palms that only support 160x160). This might just be a worthy upgrade to my Palm Vx :).

Nine Free 2002 Hugo Nominee eBooks

Fictionwise has now released six 2002 Hugo nominated works as free eBooks (for your Palm or other PDA). And, each link link below includes a book-excerpt, so you can get a feel for the book before downloading it. The free eBooks include:

“The Hugo Awards are among the most prestigious literary awards available and are presented annually by the World Science Fiction Society”. Thanks to PalmStation for the heads-up on this one.

And, if Josh reads this, hopefully he can enlighten me as to the proper means of citing books. For instance, I used double-quotes around the titles, but that was mostly an educated guess ;).
