I was flipping through Snopes just now — an urban legend debunking site — and I ran across a poem called “Make the Pie Higher” which was claimed to have been made up of quotes from George W. Bush. As I read through the intro, I thought to myself, “no way”. Well, “yes way, Garth” — the claim is true.
Here’s the last paragraph:
Put food on your family!
Knock down the tollbooth!
Vulcanize society!
Make the pie higher! Make the pie higher!
Granted, while the line “Make the pie higher” has the makings of a ready-made office meme, my favorite line may be “I am a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity”. What does that even mean? Is the opportunity something of which George Bush won’t let go? (Is that the idea?)
