If you’re using a recent build of Mozilla and it’s been hanging all the time for you (100% CPU usage), you’re probably running into bug 146884 — essentially, http pipelining will hang Mozilla in short order. I’ve voted for it.

Mozilla quickness!
Something good must have been checked-in in the past few hours, as today’s Mozilla builds seem to have noticably snappier page loads (builds after 2002062708, it appears).
Hmm, if the Build Comments are updated, perhaps that will spill the beans.
AOL Releases 8.0 Beta, Omits Gecko
Via BetaNews, it looks like the most recent beta for AOL 8.0 doesn’t include Gecko. Hmm, I hope they include it in a later beta.
America Online this week released a beta version of its upcoming AOL 8.0 client, code-named “Spacely.” Version 8.0 sports slight enhancements over its predecessor, but lacks the company’s Gecko browser engine that was expected to be included in lieu of Internet Explorer. The update instead puts an emphasis on broadband support as more users make the switch from dial-up Internet connectivity. [...]
Themes for Mozilla
Ah, finally some decent themes for Mozilla have started appearing! In particular Orbit looks kinda cool (but, if you’re thinking of trying Orbit, be sure to go to their homepage for the latest version).
Pinball is also nice. But, if you use Mozilla for MailNews, then I’d stay away from Pinball, as its MailNews toolbar icons are hella-small.

Mozilla 1.0 Party
Originally, the plan was that the Dallas Mozilla-1.0 party would be on the Saturday following the release. But, Mozilla 1.0 was released earlier this week, surprising some people (and many of the party-organizers, in specific). So, it wasn't clear whetherr the party would be this Saturday (June 8th) or the following Saturday (June 15th). I e-mailed the guy twice, and only this morning do I found out (via the Dallas party homepage, not by e-mail) that it's been postponed.
To decide on the party location, they listed several possibilities that the group would vote on. There were several excellent choices, including The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium and The Londoner. And, what do they choose? Dave & Buster’s, bleh. Between their $1-per-play arcade games and their overpriced drinks, Dave & Buster’s is not a cheap excursion. But, it'll be nice to meet like-minded Mozilla folks in the DFW area, so I’ll go anyhow :).
But, I'm still not sure how The Londoner lost out to Dave & Buster’s :-/.
Having suffered through many mediocre versions in the never-ending quest for good fish and chips here in the colonies, our expectations are never high. What a delightful shock: extremely fresh and flaky cod, wrapped in a light beer batter that seemed so lightly fried that we wonder how the fish got cooked. Likewise, the long, thick chips emerged from the oil neither too flimsy nor too crusty.[...]
