Songs in Commercials

From a thread on MetaFilter, songs in commercials are becoming a phenomenon all their own — Cadillac is even becoming popular with some younger buyers due to their use of a Zepplin song in an ad.

There’re also websites that help people figure out the artists that performed songs heard in commercials. At first, I was happy to discover SongTitle.info as there’s one song from a GMC Yukon commercial that I’m still trying to track down (the commercial featured the hulking beasts driving in choreographed circles, synchronized-swimming style).

SongTitle has an entry for “Our Day Will Come” by Ruby & The Romantics (with a link to a sound sample) for the Yukon. But, after listening, I ruled that one out. I don’t hold it against SongTitle, but I suppose they just don’t have the details for that particular commercial.

Even Volkswagen has a CD of collected songs from its commercials. Some of the more obvious ones — such as Mr. Roboto — are on there, but I may just get it to discover some new techno artists (good techo is just so hard to find these days).

  3. Does anyone know the MTV clip-like commercial featuring a remix of 3 great songs. Two of them are Destiny by Zero 7 and Work It by Missy Elliot. I’m terribly obsessed with the 3rd song. I recall the segment played was a beautiful chill tempo (seems to have no lyrics), perhaps it was the 1st of the three. Help PLEASE!!!

  4. does anyone know the song from the oxygen halls commercial? its the commercial where a woman is brought in to identify her older dead husband and then the halls goes into his mouth so he starts revealing secrets. there’s no words but the music sounds sort of electronic. if anyone could tell me that would be awesome!

  9. omg i cant find the song in the nissan commercial. the singing is in french and a lady is singign it. its a spanish commercial though. in the commercial theres a white car skidding at a beach and in the end the car is driving off on a bridge. if someone knows the name of the song please e-mail me at rbn_vela_yahoo.com…..bye

  10. I can’t figure out these 2 songs I heard on fairly new commercials.
    One is the new Verison Mp3 phone commerical. At the end of the commerical it had Nelly Furtado name on the phone but could not catch the name of the song.
    The other is for the Budweiser Select Commercial. The lyrics goes “The Time Has Come for You So Don’t Hold Back because there is a party over here.

For all of you that were looking for the “BACARDI COMMERCIAL SONG” but wanted to upload it to your mp3 player and found like I did that it isnt in mp3 format but rather in .mpga format @ 128 kbps, I converted it into .mp3 format @ 320kbps.   21. Looking for the song featured in the Starz commercial. Its a slow song with mostly an acoustic guitar and a female vocalist. She just repeats the word “Stars.”

  22. ok, my description is gonna be really general because i really have no clue about it. Okay i think the commercial was a car commercial, i think i remember it being an SUV type vehicle so it wasn’t a sports car… i think in the video there was a woman driving around doing stuff and at the end i think it showed her swimming out into the ocean with a surfboard. I’m not sure if the song had words in it, but if it did there was only a few. It had a techno type beat to it but i don’t think it sounded very “electronic”. I hope somebody knows what the hell i’m talking about lol. Only seen the commercial once and it was about a month ago maybe? but once is all it took to get it in my head…. i’d appreciate ANY info and i’d totally worship you for it lol. anyways, thanks

  41. Nelly’s new song “Promiscuous Girl” is featured on the Verizon Wireless commercial. Well I downloaded a few more tracks from her new album “Loose” *it hasn’t came out yet tehehe*. Pretty good stuff, so go download it if you’re into that sort of genre.

There is also another song i want to get to the bottom of… It’s an alcohol commercial and a guy is serving at a long table and he asks this girl that came in with a bunch of friends what she wants and she says the name i can’t remember though and she drinks it and is back and he grabs the glass to fill it back up again and she grabs his hand and takes an ice cube out to suck on it it’s a symphonic? tune i’m guessing or piano good nonetheless.     The add is for Levi Colors (quite old) with jennifer love hewitt.The songs lyrics are something like “there’s a girl, see her walking down the street, many times, so i gotta make her mine”
